Bob Karina, Chairman
Mr. Bob Karina is an accomplished stockbroker, an information technology professional and a successful businessman. He is the current Vice-Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange, a Governor and previous Board Member of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). He is a Board Member of the Central Depository and Settlement Corporation, a member of the Institute of Directors, Centre for Corporate Governance, as well as the chairman of the Finance Committee of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mr. Karina is also a board member of the Rwanda Stock Exchange, where he has played a key role in the set up of the Rwanda Stock Exchange. Bob Karina also played a key role in the implementation of the CDSC (Central Depository & Settlement Corporation), Automated Trading System, the Wide Area Network, and now the Broker Back Office system, as the Chair of the committees that spearheaded these developments in the Kenyan Capital Markets. He has broad experience in advising institutional and corporate investors, corporate finance consulting and research analysis.
Dennis Waweru, Managing Director
Dennis is the executive authority in the day to day running of Faida Investment Bank He holds an MBA in Strategic Management from Moi University and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree. He has over sixteen years experience in Investment Advisory and Portfolio Management. Dennis is also the Vice Chairman of the Kenya Association of Investment Banks and Stock Brokers (KASIB) and has served in the Board for 2 years. He has been instrumental in ensuring the implementation of various Exchange initiatives that have sustainably grown the Stock Market.
Dennis has been in-charge of portfolio management, Fixed Income and equities and is responsible for building and maintaining institutional and high net worth client relationships. Mr. Waweru oversees the management of the Investment Bank, and heads the marketing and distribution efforts in all public capital markets issues.
Lucas Otieno, Executive Director
Lucas Otieno is an Executive Director at Faida Investment Bank Limited. He was previously the CEO of African Alliance Kenya Securities for 6 years and was the Head of Corporate Business and Fixed Income Securities at CFC Financial Services limited and has been in the financial services sector for over 14 years. Lucas is a director of the Kenya Association of Stockbrokers and Investment Banks, and a former Board Member of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), where he served as a member of various committees; Chairman of the Business Centre Committee and a member of the Trading and Surveillance Committee, Audit Committee, among others. Lucas is an honours graduate of the University of Windsor, Ontario Canada in Business Administration and Economics, with a major in Finance.
Mercy Kamau, Non-Executive Director
Ms. Kamau is a partner at Kagwe, Kamau & Karanja Advocates and also serves as a Non-Executive Director of the Coffee Board of Kenya. She is the former Company Secretary of Family Bank Limited, and also worked at Paramount Bank as Company Secretary/Legal Advisor. She holds a Masters Degree in International Relations, a Masters Degree in Law, is a Certified Public Secretary of Kenya and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Rina Hicks, Operations & HR Director
Rina joined Faida Investment Bank in 2002. She holds an MBA degree from Strathmore Business School and a Bachelor of Business Degree, majoring in Finance and Marketing from Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. She sat for CFA ® Level II in 2007 and is widely travelled, having visited the major global financial markets and institutions, which has been useful to her work.
Rina has been with the company for over 9 years and has been responsible for the overall operations of the institution, and human resource management. Rina previously served as a Board Member of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund, and Enablis East Africa, a Canadian-based not-for-profit organization that supports entrepreneurs in developing countries through its member-driven network, called Enablis Entrepreneurial Network.
Rina was recently nominated by the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) to represent members of the NSE in the Broker Back Office Implementation Project Team and was also nominated by Kenya Association of Stock Brokers and Investment Banks (KASIB) in the Bond Market Steering Committee chaired by the CEO of the Capital Markets Authority. She is a SITI (Securities Industry Training Institute) Certified Trainer by the Nairobi Securities Exchange and has been involved in a number corporate advisory projects.
David Mataen, Corporate Finance Director
David has 12 years professional experience in financial services including investment banking, corporate finance, stock brokerage, investment research, commercial banking, financial analysis and consultancy. David has also discussed broad and diversely topical business issues weekly in a column titled “Emerging Frontiers” In the Money & Markets pages of Business Daily, a publication of the Nation Media Group Ltd.
